Ahoy! And yes, there is a connection between saying ahoy and telephones. In this episode, Steve looks at telephones, how they have changed over the years, and how they have changed us.

Show Notes

Ahoy from the Burnsland Podcast! No, this episode isn’t about ships and sailing. Rather, it is about telephones, that wonderful invention from Alexander Graham Bell, who thought that we should answer his invention by saying something different than hello. How did he get overruled?

Anyway, this episode covers the old days of telephones. You know, back when they were all connected by wires. And back when there were only one or two in a house. Eventually, they got added to most every room in the house, at least in our house. But not the bathroom, because that would just be weird.

And now, most people don’t even use those telephones anymore. We use those newfangled cell phones that are all the rage now. And ew use them for so many things besides just phone calls.

Are cell phones making communicating less personal than before? Not necessarily, at least in my opinion. You can hear why in the second half of the podcast.

So drop by and say ahoy!
